Due to its natural blessings, Kukkónia is not only an ideal place for excursions - but it also offers numerous opportunities for sports. Spring, summer and autumn are the best times for boat and canoe sports.

The Danube

For choosy boaters, the Great Danube is an ideal waterway that can be toured from Dévény to Komárom. Tours can leave from Bratislava, but can also start at Dunacsúny, Bős, Szap and Medve. For beginners and families with children, we suggest the Danube branches around Nagybodak and Vajka. Kukkónia is also an ideal place for extreme sports lovers . At Dunacsúny you can choose from white water rafting, white water swimming, surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, but there is also a kayaking school, horse riding or even paintball. (Information on boat, kayak and canoe rentals, and water tours can be found on our website).

The Little Danube

The smaller river of our small island, the Little Danube, which is about 128 km long, also offers many opportunities for excursions and sports. The full cruise of the Little Danube usually begins at Vereknye and ends at Gúta. One can choose from several water tours on the Little Danube - these provide active recreation for lovers of water sports, but are also suitable for beginners and families with children. Furthermore, there are also many opportunities to relax during the tour.  In the villages of Vők and Fél, it is also possible to camp, in Illésháza there is a campsite and a buffet for campers, and at Madarász there is also a campsite, a restaurant and a boarding house.

Although Jóka and Tallós are located on the left side of the Little Danube, thus they geographically do not belong to Rye Island , the watermills of Jóka and Tallós - standing on pillars on the banks of the river - are still classified as regional sights. During water tours, it is definitely worth stopping and visiting these two monuments which today function as museums. There is also a buffet and a restaurant in both places.

In Eperjes, the mill can only be seen from the water, but here you can also camp, relax, refresh or have a bountiful lunch. Visitors can visit the thermal baths in Nyárasd, and in Gúta the ship mill operating as a museum, as well as the longest wooden bridge in Europe. Naturally, there are also dining options there.

Possible water tours on the Little Danube and the Danube itself (water tours are about 15-28 km long, cca. 4-6 hours by kayak, plus preparation time). Tours can take one day, or even one week.
