Fairies are only mentioned in general, solely Tündér Ilona (Fairy Helen) is referred to by her name. It is recalled that she herself also visited Rye Island in the past and was often swimming in the shape of a swan on the Danube river. In the times when this landscape was so beautiful that it was referred to as a Golden Garden, it was inhabited by many fairies. The islands of the great Danube were especially beloved places of entertainment for the fairies, other people could not access them unless with the help of some wonderful enchanting crafts. Or, if they particularly became to like someone, they took the person along to their watered fairy palaces and accepted him or her into their service. There was indescribable light and beauty in their homes, everything shining with gold and diamonds. Among other people, the fairies appeared as orphaned girls. Those who did good to them was rewarded in a thousand ways. Their underwater lands spread far and wide, stretching all over to the seas. If someone was approaching, the fairies threw different tests and trials on them. In case the tested person proved to be loyal, he or she was piled up with graces. But people seldom stayed the tests for long. Those who became unfaithful were taken back to a miserable life by magic. One day they would simply awoke to a miserable shepherd state of life and never knew how they got out of there. - Those fairies do not exist down here anymore. They ascended to the stars. Even if they exist, they do not come into contact with mortals, as these are getting more evil.
